Engineering Manager – Tool & Test Team

$90,000 – $110,000
Description:
Commercial electro-mechanical controls manufacturer has been recognized as the world leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of quality lighting control products for over forty years. The development of new products, through constant innovation, has resulted in an average double digit growth rate since the company’s inception. They commit 10%+ of their annual sales revenue to the research and development of new products. Their superior controls are used throughout the United States and in more than 100 countries worldwide.
They have an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional Engineering Manager. They’ll be managing a team that develops new test equipment and product assembly from its initial design to installation into one of their global manufacturing plants. They’ll be involved in the process from beginning to end – understanding test needs from product engineering, developing test specifications, creating prototypes, utilizing outside suppliers for fabrication, and training their factories in use and maintenance of the equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to combine their technical and hands on expertise in developing sophisticated test equipment that is used in one of their global production plants.
Responsibilities:
· Management and development of the Tool & Tester department – managing staff of 18 comprised of Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers and Technicians
· Planning and management of department objectives, resources and budgets
· On time delivery of safe tooling/tester solutions that enable new production and meet production, quality & cost goals
· Development of corporate Tooling/Tester standards; promote and train these standards in engineering and production
· Train personnel in equipment use and maintenance in manufacturing
· Mentor the engineering team in good product design practices that allow ease of production testing (design for test)
· Communicate across all Firm engineering departments and with all manufacturing facilities to understand test needs and influence proper product design practice and preventative equipment maintenance programs
· Develop strategic relationships with outside suppliers that fabricate
· 25% travel globally
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, Physics or Math with at least a 3.0 GPA
· 10 or more years experience working as an Electrical Engineer
· 3 or more years experience in C++ or C# programming languages
· Strong experience developing teams, mentoring engineers
· Understanding of electronics manufacturing and automated test equipment
· Analog circuit design and knowledge of RF circuits
· Strong understanding of discrete circuitry and physics fundamentals; power electronics experience is a plus.
