Principal Mechanical Engineer

Job Location: Dallas, TX and/or Irvine, CA

Salary:
$100,000 - $130,000

Job description:
Seeking a high-energy person to be a Principal Mechanical Engineer for the Pilot Controls Devices products (i.e. Fly-By-Wire Throttle Quadrants, Speed Brakes, Artificial feel). This candidate will work in a Lead Engineer role.
  • Responsibilities include requirements capture, design analysis, system sizing, trade studies, integration, and test. Specific tasks include estimating of design development activities such as: requirements analysis, definition, and validation, system and subsystem integration and requirements verification testing, coordination between systems, hardware, and software design functions, and development of system related documentation. Drive SOW technical requirements into WBS. Coordinate schedule milestones, action items, and manpower estimates.
  • Responsibilities also include schedule/budget coordination and maintenance corresponding to traditional Lead Engineering activities, preparing and presenting management program/earned value reviews, and coordination of work assignments for other Systems Engineers. Contribute to the generation of Technical Proposals to customer requirements. Maintain action items matrices and follow up with the team members to ensure on time and within budget performance. People skills are very important, and specifically the ability to drive action professionally and without creating conflict.

Requirements:
  • BSME, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent (Masters a plus). Must have a several years of experience in design and development of electromechanical cockpit control devices and be able to lead and mentor a team of design and system engineers and designers.
  • Must have capability to review proposals and be capable to participate in critical design review presented to the customers. Experience in requirements analysis and integration are essential. Prior experience with mechanism design, large assemblies, kinematics, is preferred. Must be motivated to learn at a fast pace, work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Experience with DOORS software is highly preferred. Familiarity with FAR/JAR requirements as it relates to Chapter 27 is preferred. Must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to support frequent customer meetings and also support pursuit related activities.
