Job Description:
Temple-Inland is searching for a General Manager for our Wood Supply group who will lead the development and execution of raw material cost, product mix and inventory management related to sourcing strategies for the Eastern Basin’s linerboard mill, lumber, and (2) particleboard mills.
Responsibilities of the General Manager include establishing and maintaining a “pursuit of perfection” culture. Operational excellence is the expectation in every aspect of the position. These responsibilities include more specifically, planning/forecasting associated with targeted annual wood fiber purchasing, control of direct wood supply related operating/capital expenditures, maintenance of adequate security/audit controls as well as control of all wood supply overhead and mill services costs.
Additionally, the General Manager is directly accountable for employee development through regular competency assessments and implementation of associated individual developmental plans. This position will also oversee negotiations with TIMO’s/REIT’s and other important landowners related to stumpage purchases. Implementation of new technologies/strategies to obtain lowest sustainable inventory cost/value propositions for the mills is also a critical responsibility of the General Manager.
We prefer a Master’s degree in Forestry / Business with 15 years experience in similar or related markets. Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and analytic skills.
