Job Description:
Temple-Inland has an opening for a Wood Supply Forester located in the Southwest Louisiana area. This individual will play a key role in leading pine roundwood procurement operations for Temple's DeQuincy, Louisiana sawmill. Specific areas of responsibility include securing open market timber stumpage; which includes evaluating, pricing, bidding, negotiating purchases and reporting of all activities. In addition to procurement of roundwood, this position will have significant interaction with harvest operations related to managing timber harvests and the merchandizing and delivery of all products to both internal and external mills. The Wood Supply Forester will actively promote the safety program, while establishing and maintaining positive public relations.
A Bachelor of Science in Forestry with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the forest products industry is required.. Area of study concentration in forestry and/or wood procurement is preferred. The successful candidate must also have strong computer literacy including MS Office Suite and forest inventory software. This position requires a self-starter with strong analytical skills, effective negotiating skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are a must.
