Electronic Technician

Job Location: Sulphur, LA

Position Summary:
  • The Shop Electronics Instrument Technician performs maintenance, calibration, and repair of various fixed and portable gas monitoring systems.
  • Performs maintenance, calibration, and repair of water/moisture content measuring equipment.
  • Services and repairs hand-held and confined space radio communications equipment.
  • Continuously strives to upgrade skills and capabilities to be able to service additional electronics equipment and other assignments consistent with company needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Electronics Instrument Technician understands that all personnel involved in Electronic Instrument Shop Services assignments are both authorized and obliged to refuse to perform any task they deem unsafe, and to immediately report such an incident(s) to management.
  • Honor and adhere to all applicable provisions of the Total Safety US, Inc. Employees Manual, Safety Manual, and Total Safety US, Inc. Operating Procedures, and/or ISO 9001 guidelines applicable to specific duties of the assignment.
  • Stock shelves with cleaned, tested and ready to use equipment.
  • Perform maintenance/minor repairs, cleaning, sensor change-outs, and calibrations on portable and fixed gas monitors (subject to OAT training).
  • Perform maintenance/minor repairs, cleaning, cloning, etc. on hand-held radios (e.g., Motorola HT-750), confined space communication systems, and other communications equipment (subject to OAT training).
  • Maintain work area and other production areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • When directed, pull, stage, and load customer orders onto to trucks for delivery.
  • Be continuously alert to observe new/additional work opportunities for the company and/or new more efficient ways of accomplishing tasks, and report such to the Supervisor, Shop Electronics.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completed courses in Basic Electricity and Electronics.

Experience:
  • One year performing as an Instrument Technician.

Language Skills:
  • Must read, speak, and write English at or above a high school graduate level.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Incumbent must have current driver's license from state of residence, and valid proof of vehicle insurance. Must possess good driving record and be insurable by Total Safety U.S.,, Inc. insurance providers for vehicle insurance while driving company truck.
  • Completed training and certified as an Electronic/Instrument Technician (preferred, but not required).

Compensation/Benefits:

Salary is commensurate with experience. As a non-exempt position, overtime of time and one-half the normal hourly rate will be paid for hours worked in excess of 40 in any given work week.
