SITE SAFETY SPECIALIST

SUMMARY:

Total Safety, the leading global outsourced provider of integrated safety and compliance solutions and products, is looking for 5 Site Safety Specialists to assist with Daily Safety meetings on land and off-shore drilling rigs, platforms, inland barges, oil & gas refineries, and/or other chemical refineries. Initiate JSAs, hot work permits, confined space entry permits. Maintain compliance of Company & Customer Safety policies & government regulations. Coordinate on site Safety activities and field surveys. Investigate employee injuries on site. Document daily & weekly reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with Daily Safety meetings at assigned job locations.
  • Initiate JSA, hot work permits, confined space entry permits.
  • Maintain compliance of Company & Customer Safety policies & government regulations.
  • Coordinate on site Safety activities and field surveys.
  • Investigate employee injuries on site.
  • Document daily & weekly reports.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED);
  • 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Actual drilling rig experience, or experience inside oil & gas refineries, and/or other chemical refineries, a definite plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance Instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Employee may be required to work on land and off-shore drilling rigs, platforms, and inland barges, as well as inside of oil and gas refineries, and/or other chemical refineries.

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
