Job Summary
The primary role of this position is to aggregate and analyze hospital data related to the use of clinical information and measurements to improve patient care and enhance operational performance. This position will assist in the management of information flow between departments using relational databases, as well as contribute to the maintenance and support of data repository database(s). Specific emphasis is placed upon using facility information from a variety of internal and external sources to improve utilization of resources, analyze practice patterns, and enhance clinical outcomes. As such, this position is responsible for complex analysis of facility information - from conceptualization through presentation of the data. The Data Management Analyst must have knowledge of various data analysis methodologies, demonstrate optimal presentation of the data through superior communication skills, as well as possess a strong commitment to delivering the highest level of customer service.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform complex data analysis in support of ad-hoc and standing customer requests. Deliver sophisticated analysis products, with accurate and appropriate interpretation of data gathered from a variety of data sources.
2. Use and support data source applications and analytical tools, evaluating for quality and function, as well as optimal output.
3. Identify synergies among various specialties and ensure that they are communicated and leveraged across the entire Data Management team. Act as a Performance Improvement Partner across the organization. Collaborate with Performance Excellence Specialists in leading teams through improvement and implementation methods.
4. Assist in the design and structure organizational scorecards and supporting dashboard presentations. Work with facility departments to utilize scorecards/dashboards in process improvement initiatives aligned with organizational and executive strategic goals.
5. Assist in development of reporting functions from various information systems (including, but not limited to, MedSeries4, MIDAS+ Care Management and MIDAS+ DataVision, ACC/STS, SVS, and ICD/CathPCI). Other applications that require a high degree of competency include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Crystal Reports.
6. Establish relationships with various departments within the hospital to obtain and validate data as needed. Collaborate with department managers and executive leadership to identify data and metrics needs.
7. Coordinate and maintain effective inter-departmental relationships with other support services such as Finance, Medical Staff, HIM, and IT.
