ROLE SUMMARY The incumbent shall be responsible for providing, under the direction of a occupational therapist, therapeutic interventions in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position's qualifications, professional practices and ethical standards. The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem-solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provide age appropriate therapeutic interventions as directed by the occupational therapist. 2. Document the course of patient care including progress made and continuing need for treatment. Interventions and effects are documented daily according to policy and procedure. Weekly progress notes are completed according to policy and procedure. Discharge summaries are completed according to policy and procedure. 3, Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that will assist with continued functional independence. Integrates family members into the treatment, educational and discharge planning process for a safe transition home, and to ensure continued care needs are met. 4. Collaborate with the occupational therapist to develop new methods of delivering education to patients and family. 5. Assist the occupational therapist in providing team members with in-service/cross-training on occupational therapy knowledge and skill areas as needed. 6. Participate in meetings; team, safety, education, CARF (if required) and assigned task forces. Regularly attends team business meetings and offers ideas/solutions in problem solving situations/activities regarding the program and reports specific information as requested. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES · Ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with patient, patient's family, staff and physicians so as to promote positive patient care. · Ability to contribution to program development, quality improvement, problem-solving, and productivity enhancement in a flexible interdisciplinary fashion. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS · The incumbent shall be a graduate of an AOTA approved associates degree program or shall have completed equivalent training, and shall meet the practice requirements of the appropriate state. · Education/experience in working with an adult and geriatric population may be required; education/experience serving people with physical disabilities is desirable. · Wyoming License · Education/experience in working with an adult and geriatric population is necessary; education/experience serving people with physical disabilities is preferred.
