Description:
Applications are invited for a tenure-track engineering faculty position in the area of computational modeling. Appointments are expected to be at the assistant professor level but applicants qualifying for associate professor appointment will be considered. Applicants must have a strong commitment to quality teaching and an equally strong interest in developing a funded research program that results in significant publications in technical journals. The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate structural engineering courses. Applicants must have a B.S. in civil engineering (or closely related field) and a Ph.D. with an emphasis in computational modeling in areas that compliment existing capabilities within the department and college. Candidates with experience in experimental testing and an interest in pursuing research in multiscale, multiphysics computational methods, adaptive material and structural systems are particularly invited to apply. Applicants must have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (F.E.). Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Arkansas is required before tenure is granted.

The Department of Civil Engineering currently has 11 full-time tenured/tenure-track faculty members, approximately 220 undergraduate students, 40 master's students, and 12 doctoral candidates. In addition to the Ph.D., three masters degrees are offered: MS in civil engineering (MSCE), MS in transportation engineering (MSTE), and MS in environmental engineering (MSEnE). The MSTE and MSEnE degrees are ABET-accredited. The total University enrollment is approximately 17,250 students.
