The Department has 17 faculty members, an enrollment of over 330 students and an active research program supported by many MS and PhD students. The University of Arkansas is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research Universities-Extensive. The Northwest Arkansas region has a population of over 360,000 and nationally has one of the lowest unemployment rates and is one of the fastest growing areas.
Description:
Applications are invited for one endowed Chair Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arkansas with a start date of August 2008. The research area is open. A major research area in the department is in nanotechnology. We are looking to enhance our teaching in the areas of machine design, controls, and manufacturing. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and teach graduate courses in their research area.
Minimum Requirements:
A PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field is required. The appointment at the Chair Professor level is for candidates with exceptional track records in scholarship and sponsored research and outstanding teaching ability are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be a nationally prominent scholar who will lead funded research endeavors that ideally complement or extend the current strengths of the Department. The Chair will provide the holder with significant resources to advance the scholar's contributions to teaching, research, and public service.
