Job Duties:
Nature of Position and Major Responsibilities: The position is in the soil microbiology research program directed by Dr. Duane C. Wolf. The research could be oriented in the following directions: (1) bioremediation of petroleum-contaminated soils; and (2) rhizosphere influence on bioremediation of contaminated soil.
The duties will include conducting laboratory, growth chamber, greenhouse, and field studies to meet research objectives. The student will be expected to use various chemical and microbiological procedures, such as gas chromatography, spectrometry and plating techniques.
Qualifications:
The position requires a B.S. or M.S. degree in an area directly related to soil microbiology such as soil science, microbiology, agronomy, or biology with a minimum GPA of 3.00. A background in chemistry and experience with laboratory instrumentation and computers would be helpful.
Graduate Education:
Graduate Assistant will pursue graduate studies leading to an M.S. or Ph.D. degree and meet requirements set forth in the University of Arkansas Graduate School catalog and/or the CSES Graduate Student Handbook.
