Minimum Requirements:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree with a major in sociology, public administration or related field; plus three years of experience in program
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or directly related field of study; experience with community living, leadership development, and programming. Knowledge of and ability to apply student development theory, strong oral and written communication skills, and strong organizational and administrative skills are preferred

Job Duties:
Establishes an intellectual environment in the hall or complex which supports and rewards academic success. Fosters an environment in the hall or complex that encourages the acceptance of a diverse student population and fosters dialogue between and among others. Develops student leaders at the hall or complex level through promotion of hall or complex government organizations. Assists in the coordination of living learning communities specific to his/her building as assigned. Coordinates community development programs and activities in their hall or complex. Maintains a working knowledge of and collaborates with campus departments and community agencies. Intentionally builds relationships with faculty and academic partners Communicates students' rights and responsibilities and assists students in developing skills to address interpersonal conflicts. Serves as a student judicial hearing officer.
Supervises a hall or complex staff of Resident Assistants. Supervises hall or complex front desk operations and full time receptionist. May supervise a graduate assistant. Provides ongoing training and development for assigned staff. Provides leadership to staff by communicating, interpreting and administering residence hall and University policies and procedures. Maintains visibility in the hall through office hours, regular floor visits, and attendance at staff and student programs. Maintains an awareness of student and staff concerns through formal contacts (i.e., office hours, appointments) and informal interactions Advises hall government and attends weekly hall government meetings. Recruits and trains students for hall leadership positions. Develops and maintains formal contact with hall student leaders Meets with students regarding conduct and welfare. Manages a hall programming, supplies and training budget.
Coordinates communication and timely transfer of information between hall and University Housing main office. Ensures Resident Assistant and desk staff have completed all appropriate human resources and payroll paperwork before starting their job duties and completes appropriate termination paperwork when necessary. Approves timesheets for assigned staff and ensures timesheets are turned in. Performs administrative duties including: budget/spreadsheet management, maintaining records, overseeing check-ins, check-outs and moves; working with maintenance and housekeeping, processing work orders and maintaining hall specific forms. Participates in all safety training and collaborates with Housing and other campus offices as needed to maintain a high level of building safety. Participates in staff recruitment and selection processes as assigned.
Attends meetings as determined by supervisor and other departmental and divisional meetings as requested. Chairs or serves on area, departmental or divisional committees. Conducts judicial and discipline hearings as assigned. Prepares and submits annual and other reports as assigned. Collaborates with receptionist in scheduling meetings with students and staff. Participates in on-going training as assigned. Serves in the Resident Director on call duty rotation. Provides leadership, mentoring and role modeling for graduate assistant and student staff and hall residents. Participates in the formal and informal evaluation process. Serves and attends departmental, divisional and University meetings and seminars as requested. Adheres to standard housing and student affairs professional standards. Represents University Housing at seminars and conferences. Presents workshops and seminars to staff and students. Performs other related duties as assigned. Adheres to all University Housing policies and procedures.
