Annual Salary:
Salary is based upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. The fringe benefit package offered by the university is very competitive.
Description:
The University of Arkansas invites nominations and applications for the position of Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. As the Senior Academic Officer, the individual selected will report directly to the Chancellor and work with the faculty to ensure a comprehensive, coherent, and challenging curriculum; an excellent and well-supported faculty; and exemplary teaching and learning practices.
This position leads a multifunctional, integrated academic division which includes the offices of Academic Affairs, Institutional Research, Institutional Diversity and Education, Admissions, and Financial Aid. Direct reports include the Vice Provosts and the Deans of the Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences; College of Engineering; School of Architecture; Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences; College of Education and Health Professions; Walton College of Business; the School of Continuing Education and Academic Outreach; the Graduate School; the School of Law; the Honors College; and the University Libraries.
Minimum Requirements:
• Earned doctorate from an accredited institution;
• A distinguished record of teaching and scholarship that qualifies the candidate for appointment as a tenured, full professor in a UA academic department;
• Significant and successful experience in a complex, integrated, research-intensive academic institution; a deep understanding of contemporary undergraduate and graduate education; a record of leadership and innovation in teaching, scholarship, and public service; a proven track record with budgetary and personnel responsibilities, strategic planning, and academic program development;
• Commitment to creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive university; and
• Outstanding communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated leadership in and commitment to undergraduate and graduate student learning and advising;
• Successful development and/or management of a multicultural environment, including the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty, staff, and students;
• Visionary and ethical leadership in developing and achieving strategic initiatives;
• Experience in leading accreditation efforts;
• Managerial courage to lead and supervise academic personnel and develop and administer the academic budgets; and
• A strong commitment to initiatives that impact the State of Arkansas in economic development and quality of life.
