Description:
The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, requests nominations and applications for the position of a Director of Development for University Athletics.
The Director of Development for University Athletics helps to plan and works to implement the Department’s fund-raising priorities and institutional advancement activities. This position reports to the Executive Director of Development and Principal Gifts and the Senior Associate Athletic Director for University Athletics and is part of an overall university advancement program. The Director of Development’s primary responsibility is to secure private sector funding and to foster the development of alumni relations. The director will play an important role as the major gift officer in planning for and executing the Department’s component of the comprehensive, university-wide fundraising program.
Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
• Three to five years direct experience as a major gift fund raiser
• Strong communication skills: written, verbal, listening
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Work experience in public relations, collegiate athletics, or a related field
• A willingness to travel on behalf of University Athletics
Preferred Qualifications:
The following additional qualifications are preferred:
• Work with volunteers in a fund-raising program
• Experience in a capital campaign
• Proven record of soliciting planned gifts
• Experience in athletic fundraising in higher education
