Requirements (Degree/Experience):
MFA required in 2D studio area. The qualified candidate must have effective writing, communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Department of Art seeks a talented artist and educator to contribute to the Studio Area. The Department has recently reorganized its studio curriculum into 2D, 3D, and Design, and is seeking an exceptional artist to work with us on this evolving curriculum. We are looking for individuals who have a broad intellectual and technical foundation in the field of art and design studio foundations and can address formal, conceptual and technical issues related to 2D studio art.
Primary responsibilities will include teaching and coordinating studio foundation/core courses, which may include: Drawing I, 2D Design, Figure Drawing, Introduction to Digital Art, and Art Appreciation. Additional duties include student advisement, committee work and other service in the Department, College and University and to work collaboratively with department individuals and committees on curriculum revision. The retention, tenure and promotion processes at the Department, College, and University levels involve review of the individual's ongoing activity in the areas of teaching, scholarly and professional activity and service to the Department, College, University and community. Faculty are encouraged to utilize University funding for support of research and professional growth and to seek extramural funding for professional development.
Preferences:
Three or more years teaching experience (beyond TA) preferred. College level teaching experience preferred. Priority will be given to candidates with a demonstrated expertise in traditional and contemporary approaches to drawing.
