Requirements (Degree/Experience):
A doctorate in Special Education or related field (dissertation written prior to September 2010, with a defense scheduled no later than December 2010) is required.
Three years experience teaching individuals with disabilities in K-12 is essential.
Candidates should possess demonstrated leadership potential, high energy level, an ability to self-initiate and contribute to department, college, and university goals.
Offer of employment contingent upon an acceptable criminal background check.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include teaching traditional and hybrid format (i.e., online interaction plus face to face instruction) undergraduate and graduate courses in a cross categorical special education program. Other professional responsibilities include supervision of related field experiences, co-teaching Master level research and thesis courses, research, professional development, scholarly activities, and service. Opportunities for summer employment and support for faculty development in research and teaching are available.
Preferences:
Highly desirable areas of expertise may include: instructional methods, strategies for inclusive education, research methods, needs of cultural and linguistically diverse populations, assistive technology, response to intervention, and autism.
Experience teaching in inclusive K-12 or general education or community settings is desirable.
