QUALIFICATIONS:
NP must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Virginia.
NP must be a graduate of an approved program. "Approved program" means a nurse practitioner education program that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission or is offered by a school of nursing or jointly offered by a school of medicine and a school of nursing which grant a graduate degree in nursing and which holds a national accreditation acceptable to the Virginia Board of Nursing and the Virginia Board of Medicine and that is recognized by Board of Nursing and Board of Medicine.
Successful completion of a Board exam that is recognized by the Board of Nursing and the Board of Medicine is required. Recertification, if required is necessary.
NP must possess a current license as a Nurse Practitioner in Virginia.
Eligibility to prescribe Schedule III - VI drugs in accordance with the regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
Maintenance of continuing education required by Virginia Board of Nursing and Virginia Board of Medicine is required.
Maintenance of certification in BLS is required.
Must participate in the development of a written protocol that directs and describes the procedures to be followed and the delegated
A minimum of one year of practice as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred
Must possess well-developed interpersonal skills to work
Must assist in the development and practice utilization of evidence based Clinical Practice Guidelines
60-day written notice of resignation is required

JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing medical services to patients of the VHS affiliated Valley Physician Enterprise. Such medical services involved the evaluation and management of specific complaints, illnesses and/or injuries as described in the protocol. Accountable for patient care in such a way as to ensure the highest quality standards for the practice of medicine are achieved, and to do so within the scope of a practice described in the protocol. Collaborates closely with Supervising Physician who reviews patient care provided. Accountable for assuring an efficient and productive office environment by performing activities necessary to accomplish this goal.
