POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsibility for coordinating the Medical Staff application and credentialing processes. Maintains physician files and other records including bylaws, policies, committee records and minutes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Provides coordination activities and administrative support for Medical Staff.
· Investigates, develops and implements new industry standards on any Medical Staff Credentialing issues necessary to maintain program integrity and effectiveness.
· Provides ongoing training and education for staff with the latest information and guidance relative to Medical Staff Credentialing.
· Keep records of investigations and interventions in a secure environment.
· Review and maintain monitoring tools used by management team as appropriate.
· Promotes and supports all Team Mercy standards of quality customer service.
· Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS College degree required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Prefer at least three years of experience with medical records and/or the hospital medical staff functions.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Exceptional organizational and communication skills required. The staff person must be technology advanced with his/her abilities pertaining to computer hardware and software. Good computer skills required with advance applications preferred. Must be able to work with confidential information. Requires a thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Typical office environment. Ability to lift medium weights. Sitting for extended periods, bending, stooping and occasional walking required. Must be able to work under the stress of deadlines and coordinating several simultaneous activities.
