JOB DESCRIPTION:
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for creating the important “positive first impression” of the hospital for all patients, visitors, guests, and callers; facilitates and coordinates telephone communication throughout the hospital and greets and directs patients, visitors and guests as they enter the hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Assists and facilitates telephone communication throughout the hospital and greets patients, visitors, and guests, providing assistance and direction.
· Operates switchboard and telephone equipment using reference materials to correctly route callers to patient rooms, various departments or key individuals.
· Uses computer systems effectively to obtain information, produce reports and solve problems for patients, visitors, and callers.
· Promotes and supports all Team Mercy standards of quality customer service.
· Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Experience in an office or clerical setting, mainly telephone/office reception, preferred; customer service experience a plus.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
General knowledge of computers and multi-line telephones preferred; strong communication and customer service skills; ability to perform independently and to multi-task.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work under stress; moderate activity including sitting, walking, and standing; ability to occasionally push an adult patient in a wheelchair; ability to use voice extensively; good hearing and visual acuity to monitor emergency systems. Light physical demand.
