Position Summary:
Works with the Business Operations Officer and Business Operations Coordinator in the preparation negotiation and submission of all contracts for all clinical trials and research study budgets to pharmaceutical medical device and government study sponsors. Budget negotiations are designed to ensure the economic viability of all Research projects responsibilities include both price point and language negotiations. Interfaces with Via Christi legal counsel as needed to obtain legal reviews of contractual documents. Performs contract management ensuring contractual terms are met.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

- Manages accounts receivable including commercial collections from all clients. Provides regular reports to Business Operations Officer to summarize A/R aging monthly A/P cash-flow statements and supervision of the business operation and accounting personnel.
- Responsible for purchasing processes including policy and procedure development purchasing approvals and vendor relations.
- Fulfills role of Research Liaison to VCRMC Finance to provide research payments for hospital services rendered relating to clinical trials including communication with VCRMC insurance billing staff to determine standard of care versus research services performed to enhance VCRMC opportunity to maximize reimbursement for its services.
- Responsible for study update data and revenue reporting ensuring all research revenue is recorded and reported accurately including supervision of support staff responsible for revenue data entry. Works with Business Operations Officer and Business Operations Coordinator and Accountant to ensure financial reporting is accurate and is consistent with VCRMC policies.
- Responsibilities for 24/7 building monitoring systems for drug storage and laboratory areas. Acts as the primary contact for staff to ensure all drug and laboratory storage equipment is kept in good working condition and for vendor/contractor maintenance of drug storage and laboratory monitoring equipment.
- Works with Business Operations Officer and Business Operations Coordinator to provide overall technology planning.
- Responsible for all IT support including management of in-house IT support personnel. Responsible for IT-related services ensuring all VCR computer systems function at optimal levels.
- Responsible for the management of reception staff to ensure that all clients public and study participants are greeted in a positive manner. Works with outside staffing agencies as needed to ensure reception function is adequately staffed.
- Participates as a management member of the Quality Assurance and Project Review team to ensure VCR’s quality system is implemented according to plan all appropriate staff is trained as necessary and that quality policies are followed.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Management Business Quality Management or Business Administration required.
- Certified Public Accountant preferred.
- Three or more years of business management experience in the research field with related knowledge of healthcare practices required.
- Three years experience in negotiations with corporate clients required preferably in the pharmaceutical industry. Contract negotiation experience must include both price point negotiations and contract language negotiations.
- Must have experience in personnel management.
