Job Summary:
The Nutrition Aide serves the residents by assisting in preparing and serving of meals and maintaining a clean dining room and kitchen area.
Essential Job Functions
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Assist in dining room including dishing setting up and serving plates setting and busing tables serving beverages desserts and other items as needed. Ability to follow diet cards for resident food preferences. Ability to follow menu dish up correct portion size of salad dessert and hot foods. Assist in preparing and covering food and the restocking and refilling of food and kitchen items. Maintain a clean work area which includes cleaning the microwave freezer refrigerator and cupboards as well as overall cleaning of dining room. Moving chairs and tables vacuum fold napkins restocking dishes glasses cups silverware and assist with laundry as needed. Scrape soiled dishes place dishes into dish machine sort clean dishes transport dishes to storage area maintain steady work pace to produce an adequate supply of clean kitchen utensils and dishes. Document food dishwasher and refrigerator temperatures and report any variations from normal to Supervisor. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner and perform all other related duties as assigned by Supervisor. Assist in the proper care and use of equipment. Attend in-service training programs for food service employees. Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident information. Assure compliance with infection control personal protection equipment blood borne pathogens hazardous material handling and fire safety standards.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Prior food service experience preferred. Must have excellent communication skills be able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position function independently have flexibility and personal integrity. Employee must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and department heads.
