JOB DESCRIPTION:
Performs delegated patient care activities, including activities of daily living and basic nursing care procedures, as well as assigned skills and competencies required in the assigned patient care unit. Performs other related duties as assigned. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services under the direction of licensed nursing staff.
· Collaborates with patients, families and other members of the healthcare team.
· Promotes and supports all Team Mercy standards of quality customer service.
· Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
CNA: Current Kansas Certification and BLS required.
Nurse Tech I: Currently enrolled in a recognized RN nursing program; must have completed first semester of nursing program, and BLS required.
Nurse Tech II: Currently enrolled in a recognized RN nursing program in last semester of study or graduate of recognized RN nursing program and BLS required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Preferred Medical/Surgical Experience.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Utilizes the nursing process to deliver care to individual patients. Accepts assignment responsibilities as an accountable member of the healthcare team. Works cooperatively with nursing, ancillary and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards of professional nursing practice.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Full mobility and ability to complete vigorous activities. Must be able to lift, support and move patients and equipment. Must be able to function under stressful situations and for extended shift hours. Has ability to organize multiple activities simultaneously.
