37.5 C.N.A./Patient Care Technician/Medical Assistant
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Summary: The CMA is responsible for distribution of medication to residents and participation in resident care. Additional responsibilities include reporting changes in residents` condition to Supervisor. Essential Job Functions The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Provide a high level of customer service to the residents, family and other employees. Provide nursing care as assigned in a safe manner, consistent with the policies and procedures of the facility. Responsible for resident safety, identifying safety hazards and emergency situations and initiates corrective action as able. Document required information accurately and concisely. Ability to be acknowledgeable of side effects, actions and duration of medications administered. Deliver nursing care which includes administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physician consistent with currently approved policies and procedures. Report resident or family problems/concerns or changes in conditions to Supervisor. Assume responsibility and accountability for the nursing care provided to assigned patients, participate in Shift report to provide continuity of resident care. Work cooperatively with residents, Nurses, CMA`s, other CNA`s, Physicians, and families. Assure compliance with infection control, personal protection equipment, blood borne pathogens, hazardous material handling and fire safety standards. Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident information. Come to work in a neat, clean uniform and consistently present a professional appearance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities A minimum of one year experience as a Certified Medication Aide is preferred. The CMA must have excellent communication skills, be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress related to the position, function independently, have flexibility and personal integrity. Employee must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and department heads. Education/Certification EDUCATION: GED or a High School Diploma is preferred. Licensure: Must be an Active Certified Nurse Assistant in the state in which employed. Completion of course in Medication administration and have a current and valid Certificate. Must complete updates as mandated by state regulations.
