JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for distribution of medication per physician orders to residents and participants. Performs delegated activities; including activities of daily living and basic nursing care procedures for those we serve. Performs duties and presents oneself in a manner that would lead to high levels of satisfaction. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
  • Deliver nursing care which includes administering medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician consistent with ministry policies and procedures.
  • Order medications from pharmacy per ministry policy
  • Provides support with Activities of Daily Living as assigned in a safe manner, consistent with the policies and procedures of the ministry.
  • Documents tasks completed per ministry policy.
  • Contributes to resident safety by identifying safety hazards and emergency situations and initiates corrective action as appropriate.
  • Contributes to continuity of care by effectively communicating services provided and changes in the resident`s condition or family interactions in a timely manner.
  • Complies with ministrys infection control policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as assigned or requested.

This position has no management responsibilities.



JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • A minimum of one year experience as a Certified Medication Aide is preferred

Technical Skills
  • Maintains knowledge of medication administration, duration and side effects.
  • Demonstrates procedural competencies for assigned tasks.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer systems in order to complete data entry required.
  • Ability to navigate the internet and Via Christi intranet required

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Certified for medication administration in the state in which employed.
  • Must complete updates as mandated by state regulations.
  • CPR certification preferred.
