JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Summary:

The CNA is responsible for providing direct resident care as assigned. Additional responsibilities include reporting changes in residents` condition to Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions:

Provides a high level of customer service to the residents, family and other employees. Provides nursing care as assigned in a safe manner, consistent with the policies and procedures of the facility. Responsible for resident safety, identifying safety hazards and emergency situations and initiates corrective action as able. Documents required information i.e. food percentages, intake and output , bowel and bladder records, blood pressures, etc.* Reports resident or family problems/concerns or changes in conditions to Supervisor. Works cooperatively with residents, Nurses, CMA`s, Physicians, and families. Provides direct resident care as assigned including conducting resident rounds, answering call lights, giving routine care, taking residents to the dining room, serving meals, assisting with feeding, bathing and transferring residents, cleaning resident environment, making resident bed, properly dispose of soiled linen, trash and hazardous material. Assures compliance with infection control, personal protection equipment*, blood borne pathogens, hazardous material handling and fire safety standards. Maintains strict confidentiality of all resident information.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A minimum of one year experience as a Certified Nurses Assistant. Must have effective communication skills. Able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position. Function independently, have flexibility and personal integrity. Must demonstrate on an ongoing basis the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and department heads.

Education/Certification GED or a High School Diploma is preferred. Must be an active Certified Nurse Assistant in the State in which employed. CPR certification preferred.
