Job Description:
Position Summary: Essential Functions: Collaboratively provides patient care including assessment documentation development of diagnostic impression and implementation of treatment plan including patient education with the Emergency Department physicians.Participates in performance improvement activities of the Department specific to this job role. Performs approved procedures according to approved protocols.Assists with review and development of treatment protocols.Promotes team work through collaboration role modeling and positive communication. Delegates care appropriately to other staff and maintains accountability for that care.Maintains professional growth and development through seminars and professional affiliations current.A key member of the professional staff who has responsibilities listed in the RN position description as well as that of working as a physician extender. Works collaboratively with the Emergency Department physician and ED staff to provide patient care. The Nurse Practitioner shall provide patient assessment develop the diagnostic impression and plan patient treatment according to established protocols reviewed by the Emergency Department Section and signed by the Medical Director. The Nurse Practitioner shall consult with the ED Physician for Radiographic interpretation and at any time during the process should a question of patient assessment/treatment occur. Supports the goals and mission of Via Christi Regional Medical Center: Community Competence Service Human Dignity and Vision.Other duties may be assigned. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience: Certificates Licenses Registrations: Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Clinician program Emergency or Family Practice specialty preferred. Current license for RN and ARNP in state of Kansas. ACLS ENPC Triage course completion within two years of hire.
