Job Details:
  • GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

    Perform a wide variety of duties to assure the smooth operation of hospital medical and electronic equipment.

    USUAL RESPONSIBILITIES OR WORK REQUIREMENTS:

    - Diagnose and repair equipment problems.

    - Research and locate parts necessary for equipment repair.

    - Instruct personnel in user departments in the proper operation of equipment.

    - Work with physicians, department heads, nurses and technicians in the solution of equipment operating problems.

    - Comply with departmental work ticket policy and procedure.

    - Perform periodic inspections on equipment.

    - Be available for rotating on-call duty in accordance with departmental policy and procedure.

    - Keep abreast of new developments within field through reading and attendance at seminars and conferences.

    - Assist in the investigation of incidents involving equipment.

    - Formulate inspection procedures.

    - Practice and promote safety in the repair, testing and operation of equipment.

    - Keep abreast of new developments within field through reading publications and attendance at various seminars and conferences.

    - As necessary perform any function of any of the other technicians in the department in order to provide for the efficient operation and servicing of equipment.

    - Perform other duties as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    - Ability to verbally communicate well with people.

    - Ability to understand and fix a wide variety of electronic and mechanical equipment.

    - High School diploma.

    - Electronics training at an Associate, Technical School or Military Specialized Training level.

    - Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.

    - Perform automated functions that fall within job responsibility.
