Job Details:
  • The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation, and continued maintenance of a comprehensive pharmaceutical care model. These responsibilities include the coordination and dissemination of drug information regarding the use of discipline specific drugs and management. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist will serve as pharmacy liaison to discipline specific departments such as Infection Control, Psychiatry, etc. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is also responsible for the Department of Pharmacy Services staff development program with regards to their specific discipline. Reports to the Clinical Pharmacy Manager. This position also serves as the Waterbury Hospital PGY-1 Residency Program Director.

    Requirements:

    • An advanced degree and/or PharmD degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy required.
    • Hospital pharmacy residency/PharmD residency or Infectious Disease Residency/Fellowship required.
    • Board certification in a pharmacy specialty is required.
    • At least 3 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
    • Background in adult internal medicine, infectious diseases, cardiology, or critical care is highly desirable.
    • Must have current Pharmacist license in State of Connecticut or be eligible.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels of personnel/interdisciplinary teams, with tact and confidentiality.

    • Must demonstrate ability to serve as an educator/mentor of the professional staff and establish collaborative practice relationships with other health care professionals.

    • Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures.
