We are looking for a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team and help us grow our Home Dialysis Department! The Dialysis Treatment Team consists of Board Certified Nephrologists, Registered Nurses, Dietitians, Social Workers, and Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technicians. Home Dialysis RNs work general clinic hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 4:30 with weekends off. Our Home Dialysis RNs work in the clinic setting and train patients (and/or care partners) how to perform Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) or Home Hemodialysis (HHD). Home visits to the patients house are limited, typically only once during initial training and annually after this. RNs focus primarily on training the patient to ensure their success when they start to complete their treatments independently at home. Position Summary Overall case management of Home Dialysis patients. Training patients (and/or care partner) to safely perform their dialysis treatments at home as well as providing further education so our patients understand how their treatments impact their health. Continually monitor patients condition, including dialysis treatments and vitals, home medications (and how they work), lab results, scheduled tests, referrals to other medical specialties, and following up when needed with members of the Dialysis Treatment Team as needed. Assess and coordinate treatment requirements of patients who might experience PD catheter contamination, peritonitis, exit site infections. Obtain routine and non-routine lab tests as ordered by our Nephrologists and ensure good follow through with critical results or urgent patient needs. Desired Qualifications Excellent teaching and mentoring skills. Our RNs need to have the ability to teach patients or groups with differing learning abilities. Great organization and time management. Our Home Dept is staffed with only RNs and we need to carry many tasks on multiple patients concurrently. Most of this positions workload is carried out independently. A great Home RN thrives while working autonomously and maintains a high level of organization. Communication is key. Due to the autonomy provided in this position, our RNs must be able to effectively communicate with the patient and their family, all members within the Dialysis Treatment Team, as well as outside our organization, such as local hospitals and clinics. Being adaptable and flexible. This role is a true jack of all trades and reaches farther than just dialysis training. Our patients depend on us to monitor and assess for signs of any health issues, and we are called upon to act in an advisory capacity to provide support and advice to our patients and other medical staff. Bilingual RNs are desired with our regional demographics. Licenses/Certifications Required Unencumbered RN license, CPR Specific Educational and Skill Competencies Required Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and licensed to work in the state of Arkansas. Completion of CPR is required. Good interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with patients, physicians, facility staff and families.
