Position Summary The role of the MRI Student Technologist reports to the Imaging Manager. Under close supervision, this position is responsible for assisting in the performance of diagnostic MRI imaging. This position has exposure to communicable disease, body fluids and radiation. This position spends the majority of the time standing and walking (up to 60% of work time). Frequent lifting, pushing/pulling and carrying of up to 50 lb. is frequently required when positioning patients and equipment (up to 30% of work time.) This position serves a variety of age groups: Neonates (up to 5% of work time), pediatrics (5%), adolescents (15%), adults (50%) and geriatrics (25%).Other duties may be assigned as needed for the workflow of the Imaging Department. Responsibilities The MRI student technologist will perform diagnostic MRI imaging under close supervision of a registered MRI technologist and in accordance with the imaging protocols established by the radiologists. Maintains all required education set by facility. Report any equipment failures or employee issues to the MRI supervisor. The MRI student technologist is responsible for ensuring any implanted patient device is MRI compatible and has been properly set to MRI mode prior to entering the scan room (Zone IV). The MRI student technologist is responsible for reviewing physician orders, performing exams, verifying the patients identity, entering charges and documentation into the EMR, and administering contrast as needed. Other duties may be assigned as needed for the workflow of the Imaging Department. Qualifications Education: Required to be currently enrolled in an accredited radiologic technology program or registry eligible with temporary AR state licensure. Licensure and Certifications: BCLS certification required. Experience: Requires knowledge of radiology practices as generally associated with completion of one year of an accredited radiology program and current enrollment in the second year of that program.
