POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) reports to the Director of Patient Access. This position is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the total nursing care of assigned patients including assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation. This position is responsible for delegating to and supervising the job classes including but not limited to: student nurse, nursing assistant, and licensed practical nurse. This position assists in achieving patient quality of care, national patient safety, regulatory agency, and budgetary goals. This position has exposure to body fluids, radiation, and communicable diseases. Most work time is spent standing and/or walking short distances with frequent pushing and pulling up to 100lbs and lifting up to 50 lbs., as well as occasionally carrying up to 25 lbs. A culturally and linguistically diverse adult, geriatric, and newborn population may be served depending on area of competency.

Essential Position Responsibilities
Performs a comprehensive and accurate patient assessment using evidence-based assessment tools
Provides nursing care according to patient care plan and executes clinical practice skills in a competent and safe manner
Identifies changes in patients condition and report to appropriate providers
Monitors and manages the care that patients receive
Maintains patients medical records through complete and accurate documentation
Floats among various clinical services, where qualified and competent
Evaluates patients progress toward expected clinical outcomes, including treatments and health education, in collaboration with the patient and the health care team
Performs and functions within RN scope of practice as outlined by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.

Qualifications
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program
Licensure and Certifications: Arkansas RN License & CPR required. Other certifications required based on areas of competency.
Experience: Recent acute care experience required.
Applicant must be able to complete competency in 1 of the following areas:
o Emergency Department
o Critical Care
o Cardiology
o Med-Surg
o Neuro ICU / Neuro Progressive
o Labor and Delivery/Post-partum/NICU
