Position Summary Pharmacists fill orders for medications, monitor patient drug therapies, and provide drug information. Staff Pharmacists supervise and direct support personnel. In the absence of the Assistant Director of Pharmacy, a staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the Assistant Director of Pharmacy. Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., preparing IV admixtures, use of a computer keyboard). May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, and IV solutions and stooping or kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on the lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers). Extensive sitting (up to 60% of work time) and occasional standing and walking (30% of work time). Must be able to physically operate the equipment used for the job. Licenses/Certifications Required Licensed as a Pharmacist in the state of Arkansas Specific Educational and Skill Competencies Required Currently licensed to practice in the state of Arkansas. Hospital pharmacy experienced preferred, but not required. Minimum of 40 hours per week, but hours may be long and irregular; includes weekdays, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to exercise sound professional judgement. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, psychiatric, oncology, obstetric patients.
