Position Summary The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is to provide safe and considerate patient care to patients in the Nuclear Medicine department. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is permitted to administer radiopharmaceuticals, adjunctive medications (i.e. CCK and Lasix), and/or imaging medications through various routes after appropriate access has been verified and obtained in accordance with established protocols and verifying that the radiopharmaceutical meets quality specifications prior to administration as stated in the Nuclear Medicine Technologists Scope of Practice and Performance Standards. They will produce accurate images of high quality for interpretation by the radiologists. This position has exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids. This position requires a majority of time standing and walking (up to 60%). Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of up to 35 lbs is required when positioning patients and equipment (up to 30% of work time). This position requires patient care for all age groups: neonate (2%), pediatrics (4%), adolescents (5%), adults (40%), and geriatrics (40%).Other duties may be assigned as needed for the workflow of the Imaging Department.
Licenses/Certifications Required NMTCB or ARRT (N) registry and an Arkansas State License or registry eligible with a temporary Arkansas State license, BCLS & Diploma. ACLS is offered for this position but not required.
Specific Educational and Skill Competencies Required This position requires current ARRT (N) or NMTCB, Arkansas state licensure and BCLS. ACLS may be obtained in addition to BCLS. Good communication and computer skills as obtained by working or training in a patient care environment.
