POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for coordination and scheduling of Imaging services, Infusion Center and Nail Care for outpatients and works closely with the radiology nurses, imaging techs and infusion center staff. The position is responsible for coordinating all resource requirements necessary for the services to be performed. Must possess the skill to negotiate with clinic and departments with an overall goal to reduce undo radiation exposure, obtain the correct exam at the correct time and correct site, and to ensure a safe environment of care for patients coming from outside facilities. The position supports pre-registration by obtaining pre-certification information from either the clinic office staff. The incumbent is responsible for performing medical necessity reviews and for informing clinics of the determination on ABN status. Queries will be made to clinics when code assignments are not strait forward or documentation in the record is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes. The majority of work time is spent sitting (up to 80% of work time) while performing repetitive motions of hands/wrists/fingers utilizing computer keyboard. A variety of populations is served: infants, adolescents (up to 10% of work time), Adults (50%) and geriatrics (40%).LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREDAR. L.P.N. LicenseSPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITIONCurrent LPN license. A good working knowledge of hospital scheduling procedures as demonstrated by a minimum of at least one year of clinical nursing experience. Experience with ICD-9 and CPT codes and an understanding of medical necessity are helpful. Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and attention to detail are a must. Cross training to cover order facilitation is required. Computer skills in MSOffice applications and the ability to operate standard office equipment are required.
