POSITION SUMMARYThis position is responsible for assisting the director with hiring, orienting, evaluating, and supervising the Emergency Room staff. The Assistant Director assists the director in establishing and maintaining unit policies and procedures. The Assistant Director assists in achieving patient quality of care, national patient safety, regulatory agency and budgetary goals. In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating the care of assigned patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation. The Assistant Director serves in an administrative capacity as appropriate. This position directly supervises the job classes of RN, LPN, Tech I & II, Phlebotomist, and Unit Secretary. This position has frequent exposure to body fluids, radiation, and communicable disease. The majority of time is spent standing and/or walking of short distances, with frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling of up to 100 lbs., and occasional carrying of up to 25 lbs. A culturally and linguistically diverse patient population is served including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics, with the majority being adults and geriatrics.LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREDArkansas RN license or licensed in a state that has enacted the RN/LPN NLC, CPR, and ACLSSPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITIONA good working knowledge of critical care practices and advanced decision-making skills as usually demonstrated by a minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience. A Bachelors Degree in Nursing is required. Completion of CPR, ACLS and Basic Dysrhythmia courses are required. PALS and TNCC certifications preferred. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively.
