Service Technician

Summary:
Services, and repairs coin-operated washing machines and dryers, by performing the following duties. Ideal candidate will possess two years of professional experience fixing washing machines and dryers. Company will consider training right candidate with electrical/mechancial background.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Communicates with dispatch office with two-way radio to obtain work assignments and directions to locations. Drives Company vehicle to and from work locations. Maintains Company vehicle fluid levels, tire pressure, and keeps vehicle clean. Keeps record of fuel purchases. Maintains stocks of replacement parts for servicing coin-operated washers and dryers. Moves machine from wall and removes panels to access parts. Connects washers and dryers to power source and test meters such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter. Observes readings on meters and graphic recorders. Examines machine during operating cycle to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks, and loose parts. Disassembles machine and examines mechanical and electrical parts. Traces electrical circuits and locates shorts and grounds. Calibrates timers, thermostats, and adjusts contact points. Cleans and washes parts. Replaces worn or defective parts such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers, and defective wiring. Replaces and adjusts motors. Reassembles appliance, adjusts pulleys, and lubricates moving parts. Advises dispatch office of equipment in the field that should be replaced with new equipment.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization. Must be able to speak clearly in order to communicate using two-way radio. Bi-lingual Spanish desirable.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Candidate must have a good driving record and be willing to undergo a stringent background check.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to communicate with dispatch office with on cellphone. Must have and maintain good driving record for insurance purposes, and pass a background check, drug screen and pre-employment physical. Must possess the ability to lift/move 50 pounds.

The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 50 to 100 pounds or more with proper equipment. Must be able to move washers and dryers from walls to access back panels. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for working close-in on small parts, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus for driving company vehicle.
Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals (bleach and soap) and extreme heat (dryers and water heaters). The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places (running flues and vents) and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, sometimes loud.
