Manager, Projects

Job Location: Calgary, AB CANADA

Job Description:
Responsible for leading a professional team of employees engaged in the engineering and construction of approved growth projects for the Canadian Olefins business unit. Will select and develop project managers and other professional employees as necessary to support the continued growth. This role will also support the Business Development team in development activities including conceptual definition, proposals, scoping, estimates and customer presentations.

Key activities of this position include:
* Ensure effective project management practices are utilized and aligned with Project Life Cycle concepts, supported by effective project administration methods.
* Transitioning completed projects into routine operating assets using Canada's SIP and PLC management processes.
* Maintaining effective inter-department communications and relationships to properly transition projects through each stage of development, construction, commissioning and optimization (with Operations, Commercial and customer organizations)
* Developing, monitoring and controlling capital and expense budgets within defined targets and amounts.
* Communicating established Midstream Performance Metrics to assigned staff and developing goals and strategies in support of meeting Midstream, Canada, and Tech Services performance metrics targets.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering discipline required from an accredited university with a minimum of 10 years of experience working within the energy industry (Midstream or Upgrading/refining industry (Oilsands preferred))
* Professional Engineer registration is preferred
* Graduate training or certification in construction project management (such as PMP) is helpful in this role
* Experience in medium to large complex facility Project management (as an owner) required
* Requires knowledge of contract terms and conditions, and relationship management with EPC firms
* Understanding of budgeting and forecasting processes and economic evaluation tools
* Technical knowledge of processing and fractionation technologies and costs, to support development of engineering concepts and preliminary cost estimates during the pursuit of commercial opportunities.
* 5+ years of managerial experience
