Application Development DBA
Job Location: Dayton, OH
Shift:
6 Month contract to start (possible Contract to hire opportunity)
Summary:
Web Yoga is currently seeking an Application Dev SQL Server DBA for our client in Dayton, Ohio. This is currently a 6 Month contract that could turn into a Contract to hire opportunity. Skills / Requirements:
- SQL Server 2000 / 2005 with 3-5 years experience in database design utilizing 3rd normal form.
- Proficient in TSQL Scripting is a must
- DTS and Integration Services (SSIS)
- SQL 2005 Reporting Services management, including data-driven subscriptions
- SQL Profiler
- Performance / TSQL trouble-shooting and tuning
- Database Administration
- Communication required with fellow DBAs, developers, clients, and management
- Willing to complete recurring DBA checklist tasks to ensure audit compliance
- VB.net or similar application development experience is a plus
- Microsoft DBA certification is a plus
The candidate will work both independently and in a group environment on application development project teams. Applications include both in-house and vendor developed software. Additional responsibilities include providing DBA support and research for existing applications, and providing TSQL mentoring to application development staff. Minimal after hour support may be required in conjunction with a rotating DBA cell phone.
The candidate must also work closely with current DBA staff to help enforce existing database standards, policies, and procedures during application development in order to ensure consistency across the database environments. Design efforts should promote object reuse whenever possible and avoid hard-coding. Updates within the production environment must be documented via request tickets and approved by the client authorizer prior to a production move. The DBA is typically not a local admin of the SQL Server machine.
