Requisition Number 13-0598 Post Date 9/9/2013 Title Production Manager City McRae State GA Description Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.
Essential Functions: Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities. Confer with customers, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project status. Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization. Estimate production cost and effect of product design changes for management review, action, and control. Communicate with management and user personnel to develop production and design standards. Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities. Ensure seamless transition from Project Manager to OPS Center Manager Review Key Processes Indicators to evaluate the performance of employees/departments including performance reviews. Assist in management of PFEP and Kanban levels for inventory control. Determine ways to reduce raw material inventory and costs. Work with other departments to achieve daily goals and customer peace-of-mind. Facilitate and/or perform all duties necessary to ensure seamless, on-time implementation of customer-defined project. Map process flow including documenting process flow and all necessary quality checks to meet customer-defined quality standards. Train/mentor operators and/or trainees. Customer relations and/or phone support as needed. Operate printing and scanning/validation equipment. Able to understand and print label formats with knowledge of serial files and databases. Maintain warehouse inventories (MASTERlink, Kanban, Min/Max, etc.) Conduct quality checks on incoming and outgoing product (set-up, in-process, and final inspection). Knowledge and maintenance of all WSPG procedures. Ensure all equipment is maintained and repaired as needed. Allocate use of available resources. Monitor and assist staff with work progress Plan and implement procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency. Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, and overtime scheduling. Cover for absenteeism as required. Manage the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary to carry out the functions of the department.
Education/Training: Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field preferred.
Experience: Requires a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience working in project manager role and managing employees in a diverse workforce. Must have experience in Lean Manufacturing.
Competencies: Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Time Management - Managing one`s own time and the time of others. Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Effective Communication- Ability to communicate information to all levels of the organization and with Customers to ensure consistency and confidence in the status of the project with realistic timelines and expectations.
Contacts: Has contact with all levels of company employees as well as all levels of customers.
Working Conditions: Works in a production and office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the office work environment is usually low to moderate. Will spend some time in a manufacturing environment and be required to wear hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
