Position Objective

To direct and coordinate all activities within a value stream from the point of raw material delivery to transition of final product into finished goods.

FLSA Status: Exempt or Non-Exempt

Exempt

Essential Functions

  • To ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity (SQDIP) metrics for assigned value stream are achieving policy deployment goals and KPI targets.
  • Ensure root cause and counter measures are identified and implemented for any miss pertaining to SQDIP.
  • Perform daily management for the machine centers within the value stream and also maintain the overall value stream daily management board.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and processed to meet and exceed the goals and targets for the value stream.
  • Participation in kaizen teams and assumes kaizen leader position as necessary.
  • Planning and scheduling of associates, materials, and processes for the value stream.
  • Understanding labor costs in relationship to productivity and make the necessary adjustments to maintain goals within the value stream.
  • Promote an atmosphere of continuous improvement through the use of Lean tools
  • Provide associate development, guidance, and training.
  • Conduct performance reviews of direct reports.
  • Ensure all value stream members have the appropriate skills and training necessary to successfully perform their tasks.
  • Coordinates with other functional areas to ensure accomplishment of overall plant objectives.
  • Provide effective associate relations within operation scope by ensuring that employment practices are fair and consistent.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Relationships

  • Reports directly to the General Manager
  • Interacts daily with functional department managers: Quality, Lean, Maintenance, Human Resources, Scheduling, Inventory Control and Engineering.
  • Direct Reports:

o Manufacturing Engineer

o Value Stream TRPs

o Team Leads

o Hourly Operators

Background and Skills

  • Five to seven years of operations related experience including leadership position experience in a fast paced Lean atmosphere.
  • Ability to handle conflict resolution.
  • Understanding of demand management, capacity analysis and forecasting.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, results and action oriented.
  • Ability to make independent and sound decisions.
  • Must possess sound interpersonal skills.
  • Experience as a change agent in an organization.
  • Strong understanding of the lean toolsets and demonstrated experience leading process improvement events.

Education:

Requires a bachelors degree and five to seven years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
