Requisition Number 13-0639 Post Date 9/10/2013 Title Press Operator City Wilton State NH Description SUMMARY: A Press Operator is responsible for outputting a quality product the first time, every time, by understanding, reading, following, and performing the company and factory order requirements and procedures as indicated. The Press Operator will engage in the efficient set-up, operation, and quality standards of flexographic printing and perform daily maintenance of equipment and related tasks as determined and required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Duties may be modified or additional duties assigned. Adheres to safety policies.
Understand and support the Corporate Mission Statement, Values, Vision, and Operating Principles (attached).
Adhere to mandatory daily stretch, safety requirements.
Understand and adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the employee manual.
A Press Operator reports directly to his/her Pressroom Technical Assistant of his/her shift. A Press Operator works indirectly with Quality Assurance on a daily basis for quality standards and sign-off.
Work directly with their Pressroom Technical Assistant to understand and support the goals, plans, and policies of the organization
Understand from Pressroom Technical Assistant what steps to go through for verification before a job is taken down
Work with Pressroom Technical Assistant to minimize and avoid future backorders, reruns, and flag sheet occurrences
Follow proper reporting of the press time sheets per revised notes dated 6/29/00 and are responsible for inventory usage and reporting of the Delivered Material Reconciliation Report with assistance from the Press Technical Assistant
Report for work on time daily per your designated hours and request vacation as designated by the department vacation guidelines
Work overtime as requested by management
Perform the mandatory daily stretching to contribute to a healthier, safe work environment
Keep your press area clean and safe by abiding within the established company cleanliness requirements, AIB, and safety policies and procedures
Properly fill out and complete paperwork including, but not limited to, QA check sheets, QA 1st label sign-off, roll end procedures, operator sign-offs on each p/n along with obtaining QA sign-offs, flag sheets, time sheets, gray folders, job history cards, die retools, artwork change form, factory order changes, and required work orders
Responsible for verification of job material requirements, copy and color requirements, press diagram sheet and anilox requirements
Responsible for following current and any new procedures including, but not limited to, make ready tasks, wash-up procedures, sheeter set-up procedures, die retool procedures, roll end procedures, proper handling of anilox rolls, etc.
Fill out QA press sheet, verifying all information first, before you call for QA first sign-off
Know and understand your section of responsibility on the factory order/job and read it, follow it, and perform it, reporting any discrepancies to your Pressroom Technical Assistant for correction
Report any necessary maintenance required on the press or auxiliary equipment to your Pressroom Technical Assistant and fill out the required work order
Request help from your Pressroom Technical Assistant in trouble-shooting, planning, and direction of jobs
Follow and perform all established procedures for quality of product including, but not limited to, routine inspection of roll ends, varnish tests, regular in process checks to monitor color, registration, die cuts, etc.
Follow and perform all established procedures for specialized accounts including, but not limited to, Web decoders, Prism, security game pieces, coupons, etc.
Adhere to assigned company break times
Perform daily preventative maintenance (TBD and documented)
Request direction or additional training as needed
Work together as a team to improve and streamline the process with each department
Forward any suggestions or concerns to Pressroom Technical Assistant and work with him/her to improve your ability to run equipment proficiently, reduce waste, increase productivity, reduce set-up times, and/or any additional enhancements to help increase profit and through-put
Participate in implementation of process improvement for internal/external customers through data collection, standardized procedures and teamwork
The Press Operator is responsible in complying with the companys procedures and policies to assure the customer, whether internal or external, is receiving a quality product within specifications, on time. The press operator will provide accurate documentation to create a job history to provide measuring of our processes and help to continuously improve operational proficiency and profit.

Produce a quality product by working with the TRPs and Quality to minimize and avoid backorders, reruns, and flag sheet occurrences. Participate in implementation of process improvement. Forward any suggestions or concerns to the TRPs. Report to work on time daily per your designated hours.
Travel: May require limited travel (daily/overnight/extended stays possible) when needed. Supervisor will determine need.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Operator with flexo, rotary letterpress, and rotary silkscreen knowledge/experience preferred. Proven ability to work without supervision. Willing to work OT and weekends as scheduled. Good skills are required in reading, writing, spoken communication, and math. Physical requirements include ability to bend and lift up to 50 lbs. (20 lbs. repetitively), stand up to 12 hours, distinguish color, and good hand-eye coordination. Must be extremely trustworthy, flexible, and dependable with a good attendance history. Self-motivated and able to perform with little direction. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to accurately complete high volumes of work Exceptional problem solving skills. Ability to maintain a clean, safe work environment with a focus on 6S and Lean practices.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form..
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Software including Outlook and have the ability to learn company specialized software programs.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
