Description
WS Packaging Group in Elk River, Minnesota is seeking a Production Manager to support its Flexographic and Offset Printing location.

Position Objective:

Ensure the optimum efficiency and timely production of goods. Plan, organize and control production in an organization to ensure products are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to standard to maximize profits.

Essential Functions:

Manage performance of direct and indirect reports within production to ensure we have appropriate human resources allocated to the team and in the appropriate positions.
Apply Lean philosophy and implementation through management activities. Manage accountability of direct/indirect reports for identifying and leading lean initiatives to support corporate objectives.
Create, assess, and utilize data reports to identify trends and patterns in order to manage quality, waste, productivity, set-up time reduction, improve on-time-delivery and reduce production labor costs.
Lead and encourage participation in continuous improvement efforts across all production areas to ensure waste reduction, cost savings, increase speed, and on time delivery.
Cascade critical information such as new procedures, policies, guidelines or goals and objectives to appropriate individuals through team meetings, one on ones, shift change documents, white boards, etc.
Solicit input from others to support and foster employee engagement and high-performance, team based culture.
Share technical expertise and knowledge with others: including but not limited to sales estimators, customer service representatives, pre-production and production.
Ensure quality and operating standards and procedures are implemented and adhered in all areas of responsibility.
Provide feedback to employees on performance objectives and developmental needs. Monitor and address attendance and productivity and encourage the highest level of quality in their work. Recognize positive deliverables and high contributors.
Assess and adjust material resources required for production schedules along with proper decisions about equipment use, maintenance, and modifications.
May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Working Conditions:
Physical Demands: Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. While performing the duties of the job, employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hands to write or type, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work Environment: Manufacturing environment requires hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is not regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles. The noise level in production departments requires hearing and foot protection.

Requirements Education/Training:
Associates Degree in Business Management or Administration, or the equivalent knowledge and experience is required. Bachelor Degree in Business Management or Administration, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, with appropriate work-related experience is ideal.

Experience:
Requires previous front-line supervisory or technical resource experience in a production or manufacturing environment; preferably within the printing industry. Must have experience in manufacturing processes, procedures and techniques and knowledge of raw materials, quality systems and standards and compliance. Must have knowledge of machines, tools, and technology as well as business and management practices and principles.

In addition, the candidate will have the following competencies:

Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate conversations with co-workers, management, and subordinates.
Proven leadership skills to motivate others to work effectively and efficiently; ability to clearly communicate expectations of quality to achieve goals.
Demonstrated conflict management and stress tolerance skills.
Experience with critical thinking, creative problem solving and strong influential skills is highly desired.
