SCHOOL PROGRAMS MANAGER - CHC - Cultural and Heritage Commission Job Grade: 13 CHC Salary: $32218.15 Description: SCHOOL PROGRAM MANAGER _____________________________________________________________________ SUMMARY: Under limited supervision of the Site Manager, the School Program Manager develops implements, manages and evaluates a comprehensive program of learning experiences that meet the needs of school audiences at Historic Brattonsville and organizes, manages and delivers of large-scale public educational special events. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Duties include but are not limited to: School Program Duties: 1. Applies best practices to curriculum-based school program development, delivery and evaluation and strives to discover and apply new strategies and techniques to keep programming fresh and exciting to school audiences. a. Writes lesson plans for all school programs and updates as needed b. Aligns school programs with state and national standards c. Directly observes and evaluates programs, staff and volunteers on a regular basis 2. Supervises Historic Brattonsville 1840 Academy Program including negotiations with school districts, direct supervision and evaluation of staff and purchasing of supplies. 3. Delivers school programs onsite and directs the implementation of school programs through others working with CHM staff 4. Markets and sells programs to potential audiences which includes assessment of needs and regular communication with school district personnel 5. - Ensures program materials are current and available to all audiences through a variety of venues (promotional/sales visits, website, printed materials, etc)
- Promotes CHM school programs directly to school districts, individual schools, teachers, and administrators
6. Plans and manages summer camps including supervision of seasonal summer camp instructors and volunteers. Event Duties: 1. Organizes and coordinates event logistics including, but not limited to, contract management, support service requirements (tables, chairs, etc) vendors, exhibitors, volunteers and visitor amenities (signage, maps, programs, road closures, food, parking, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, portable toilets, maps, etc.), first aid and security. 2. Coordinates event planning with other CHM departments to ensure broad operational readiness, efficiency in resource utilization, and an exceptional visitor experience. 3. Manages and regularly updates the Educational Special Events section of the CHM Share Point site. 4. Works in coordination with Volunteer Manager and other CHM staff to ensure necessary volunteer coverage for school programs and special events. 5. Presents public programs, including weekend/evening offerings. 6. Maintains and oversees budgets. 7. Frequent weekend and evening work required to coincide with events. 8. Performs other duties as required within the scope of responsibility.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree from accredited college or university, prior experience developing and delivering educational programs in an informal setting such as nature center, museum, or library, prior experience managing events of scale in a non-profit or profit setting preferred. Experience may be substituted for education. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to organize and document complex events with attention to detail. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid drivers license.
