General Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Master Baker, performs a variety of tasks to assist the Master Baker and Bakers in the preparation, baking and serving of specialty items, following standard practices and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1 Reviews daily menu and assembles supplies and baking equipment, as needed, for daily baking activities.
2 Assists in preparing and baking items including, but not limited to, donuts, cookies, muffins, pies, and other pastries.
3 Cuts and portions finished baked goods for distribution.
4 Operates kitchen equipment such as mixers, stoves, and ovens.
5 Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies.
6 Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies and equipment, and other unusual conditions.
The following are common expectations:
7 Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
8 Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
9 Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
The following are nonessential job accountabilities for ADA purposes:
10 Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
11 Maintains appropriate records, reports, and files as required.
12 Attends meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as identified.
Qualifications:
Note: Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
Minimum Education Less Than High School
Minimum Experience 3 - 6 months
Pref Field of Expertise Knowledge of baking methods and procedures, types of preparation and related routines.
Physical Demands
Moderate physical effort (lift/carry 11 to 25 lbs)
Frequent prolonged standing/walking
Working Conditions
Subject to burns and cuts
Exposed to hazards of steam and heat
Exposed to heat, wetness, odors in kitchen and/or patient areas
Exposed to varying degrees of kitchen elements
