Job Description
Senior Registration Specialist Opportunity In Beautiful York, PA
About the Position
Primarily performs a variety of functions related to patient registration. Assists the supervisor in training, orienting and evaluating staff.
The qualified candidate will be responsible for carrying out the following duties:
- Ensures that the patient registration function runs smoothly and efficiently by overseeing operations.
- Is a resource for registration and insurance questions.
- Reviews hospital admission schedules to ensure adequate admissions staffing is available to admit patients.
- Trains other employees in new policies, procedures, processes and system changes related to patient registration.
- Collects and reviews hospital registrations to ensure accurate financial and demographic information have been obtained and properly entered into appropriate information systems.
- Coordinates with medical, nursing and other department staff to ensure appropriate placement of patients and compliance with third party payers and other regulations.
- Explains financial requirements to the patient or responsible party and collects deposits or deductibles as required.
- Explains insurance coverages and requirements.
- Compiles and distributes information regarding patients' personal, insurance, and financial status. Provides appropriate forms to billing and other departments.
- Reviews and prepares admitting and death or birth records to ensure compliance with medical-legal requirements.
- Maintains and fosters effective public relations with patients and the public.
- Completes daily shift report to provide supervisor with information on issues.
- Communicates directly and effectively with peers on registration corrections and behavior issues. Provides a role model and resource for coworkers.
