Position Summary
Performs routine and special diagnostic procedures. Serves as general lab supervisor in the absence of an onsite supervisor or manager. May instruct MT and MLT students.
Job Qualifications
Education or Formal Training
1. The Medical Technologist Level II (MT) laboratorian may have a baccalaureate degree in the clinical laboratory sciences from an accredited college or university; or,
2. A baccalaureate degree in a related science curriculum including prescribed hours and courses in chemistry, biology, and math, and approximately 2000 hours in an accredited clinical (hospital-based) program; or
3. Credentialing as a Medical Technologist Level I (MLT) followed by additional work at an accredited college or university, which culminates in a baccalaureate degree in the clinical laboratory sciences or a related curriculum. The total college courses taken in chemistry, biology, and math must be the same as those required in #1 and #2 above; or
4. Graduation from an accredited school of clinical laboratory sciences (MT, etc.); or
5. Demonstration of equivalent education gained by nontraditional methods and successful completion at a nationally recognized U.S. Department of Education or NCHCA credentialing mechanism.
Special Qualifications (licensure, registration, etc.)
Credentialing by an agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education or approved by the National Commission for Health Certifying Agencies (NCHCA).

8. Willingness to work any shift and/or weekends.
Materials and Equipment Directly Used
General Lab technical equipment, computers, phones, FAX, autoclave, phlebotomy equipment, copy machines.
