Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Computer Security Researcher.
Responsibilities
Lead and work with small teams of researchers and developers to analyze and develop novel security technologies for computing platforms. Measure the trustworthiness of unknown software binaries and study malware activities through the application of reverse engineering techniques and the design and development of low-level behavioral analysis tools. Analyze the design and implementation of system-of-systems to determine if information assurance properties are reasonably satisfied to meet stated program goals and objectives. Prepare technical reports, present results and demonstrate system capabilities to peer review groups, managers, and sponsors. Solicit funding for novel approaches via external grants and BAAs and internal independent research and development efforts.
Qualifications
Required: Must posses a BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 5 years related experience with strong C/C++ development skills and x86 reverse engineering skills. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and on a team, outstanding written and oral communication skills, and good organizational skills.
Desired: MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 10 years related experience. Candidates with 4 years or more experience using assembly-level debugging/reverse engineering tools (e.g., IDAPro, SoftICE, or in-target probes) for x86 binaries highly desired.
Security
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. Must be eligible for DoD clearance requiring background investigation and/or polygraph examination. Preference for current SSBI.
