Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Net-centric Software Engineer.
Responsibilities
Provide inventive software solutions for DHS, FAA, DoD, and IC customers by developing multi-user software applications using distributed technologies including web services, Ajax, and other web based technologies. Design, evaluate and recommend solutions for the effective utilization of innovative software techniques to support data and service exposure and access across heterogeneous environments. Implement software solutions using current industry best practices for software development. Design, develop and integrate new and existing software in support of innovative solutions to realize next generation network-centric systems. Participate in the development of requirements for software solutions derived from domain experts, systems engineers and other pertinent stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required:
BS in Computer science or other related discipline. At least 3 years of software design and development experience. Strong knowledge of Web services, XML and .net. Demonstrated use of Java hosted on Windows, Linux /Unix environments and C#. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to work in a team environment.
Desired:
MS in computer Science or other related discipline. Experience in large-scale software system development for DHS, FAA, DoD or IC projects.
Special Work Conditions
May be required to work offsite in sponsor facilities. Local and limited non-local travel for meetings and field support at sponsor locations and military facilities.
Security
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship. Must be eligible for DoD clearance requiring background investigation and/or polygraph examination. Preference for current SSBI.
