Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a National Security Space Analyst.
Responsibilities
Conduct analysis resulting in new concepts and applications in the area of national security space capabilities, including space situational awareness, space control, communications and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR). Lead teams performing system analysis. Develop and implement analysis plans yielding results which result in new system applications to support National Security Space efforts. Develop National Security Space-space system applications, concepts and assist others in developing these applications. Provide technical support to the Space Department National Security and Civilian Space Business areas. Disseminate results through presentations and publications.
Qualifications
Required:
BS degree in science or technical discipline. 5-7 years experience with the National Space Community with at least 50% of that experience working in the Space Control, Space Situational Awareness, and Space C2 Mission Areas. Working knowledge of modeling, simulations and collaborative analysis. Strong skills in the area of systems analysis and engineering and concept development as applied to DoD applications. Detailed familiarity with DoD space operations and applications. Strong leadership, teaming, speaking & writing skills; must be self-motivated & solutions-oriented.
Desired:
MS degree or equivalent in Systems Engineering, Operational Research or related science/technical discipline. Familiarity with STK, DOORS and other analysis and system management tools. Working knowledge of PC workstation environment and computation skills in computer languages such as IDL and/or MatLab. Experience in area of modeling and simulations as applied to warfighter applications. Pervious experience working at AFSPC or SMC.
