Introduction:
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Senior Information Assurance Software Developer.

Responsibilities:
The selected candidate for this position will contribute to the mission of VIG by developing and applying new Information Assurance (IA) technologies in support of US military and strategic community missions. The selectee will lead teams and participate in software engineering research projects that demonstrate the feasibility of using emerging IA technologies in new ways to secure computing platforms. The primary responsibility is to pursue projects that increase computing platform security by investigating platform and network vulnerabilities, and developing innovative applications of technology utilizing capabilities such as those provided by the Trusted Platform Module, Virtual Machines, Secure Linux, and software forensics technologies. The selectee will apply software architecture, design, integration and development experience to create reference implementation-level products that verify IA research concepts for secure computing areas including but not limited to assured information sharing and secure authentication. The selectee must clearly articulate ideas in oral and written form to technical staff, management and sponsors, as well as participate in working groups, sponsor presentations, sponsor meetings, proposal writing, and conferences. An ongoing responsibility will be participation as needed in reviews of all phases of projects, including requirements, systems design, and quality assurance.

Qualifications:
Required: BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 5+ experience in software engineering. 2+ years experience in technical project leadership. Background in computer architecture, networks, operating systems, or application-level Information Assurance research. Possess strong software development skills in C/C++ and/or JAVA with knowledge of the Linux environment. Demonstrate good interpersonal skills, the ability to lead teams and work independently, good written and oral communications skills, and good organizational and time management skills.

Desired: Experience working on government-sponsored IA research projects. Experience with virtual machine technology including VMWare, Xen, and NetTop platforms. Experience in integration of core IA Open Source, COTS, and GOTS technology. Knowledge of additional coding languages and operating systems including Windows. A current DoD clearance and prior experience working with intelligence community sponsors are highly desirable.
